For mayoral hopefuls, it’s yoga and politics as the big day nears

Mayoral hopeful Kathryn Garcia sought a moment of tranquility Sunday during the frenzied sprint to Tuesday’s Democratic primary.

She made for Times Square to participate in a group yoga session in the morning.

“So I did something a little different this morning. Celebrated the summer solstice in @ TimesSquareNYC with sunrise yoga,” tweeted Garcia (below), a former sanitation commissioner. “Fun challenge to find peace in such a traditionally bustling neighborhood (though I must admit, I’m not as bendy as I used to be).”

After that she made campaign stops throughout Manhattan and the Bronx, including an appearance at storied food emporium Zabar’s on the Upper West Side.

Fellow candidate Andrew Yang joined Garcia for part of the day, after the duo announced Saturday they were joining forces.

Yang, a businessman who had been leading in the polls until recent weeks, repeated that he’d rank Garcia his second choice on the ballot.

Garcia encouraged her supporters to rank Yang second — an apparent attempt by the two centrist candidates to discourage their followers from supporting Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams, who has been polling at No. 1.

“I was near [Yang’s] house this morning. I texted him, see if he needed a coffee or anything,” Garcia told an NY1 reporter.

“This is the kind of collaborative spirit that New Yorkers have been looking for,” Yang said.

Adams campaigned in upper Manhattan and the Bronx.

He came to the site of a horrifying Friday shooting in which an attacker shot a man dangerously close to two children. The caught-on-video attack, in which the victim tumbled onto the kids, was the latest in a series of high-profile crimes that have made public safety a top issue in the campaign.

Adams also addressed another jarring crime — the Sunday stabbing of a campaign volunteer.

“He was one of our most committed volunteers up in the Bronx,” the candidate said.

The victim was believed to be in stable condition at Lincoln Hospital after the incident.

Maya Wiley, who’s been riding a bump in the polls after getting endorsed by superstar Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-Queens, Bronx), campaigned from Harlem to Chinatown and Brooklyn.
