RBI (231). They had the lowest number of hits and ranked in the bottom third in the league in walks drawn (Nimmo’s return should help with the latter).

Yes, the Mets have played the fewest number of games in MLB so far, but that will soon change once they play a pair of doubleheaders against the Braves and Phillies at Citi Field this week.

LUCCHESI HEADING FOR MRI

Joey Lucchesi (left elbow inflammation) will receive an MRI today, four days after the Mets learned of his discomfort. Lucchesi has posted a 1.19 ERA across his last five straight starts, with a 4.46 ERA on the season. He pitched 5.1 scoreless innings against the Nationals on Friday before the Mets put him on the 10-day IL.

Manager Luis Rojas said on Saturday the team was not overly concerned with Lucchesi’s inflammation. He walked that sentiment back on Sunday, adding the Mets want to see his MRI results before determining their level of concern for the left-hander. No matter how encouraging the images on his elbow inflammation are, Lucchesi cannot return from the IL before June 29.

DEGROM VS. BRAVES?

Jacob deGrom (right shoulder soreness) again gave a “thumbs up” to Rojas on Sunday after playing catch, the manager said, indicating he should be available to start against the Braves today. Rojas said the Mets will continue checking on their ace before announcing whether he will start. But all signs point to deGrom again avoiding the IL and not missing time, despite leaving his last two starts early with different minor injuries.
