Freed susp attacks girl, is busted – again!

A serial burglar, repeatedly arrested and released during a one-man crime wave over the past eight months, was busted for a bizarre Greenwich Village assault in which he rubbed his genitals against a sleeping 10-year-old girl’s feet, police said Thursday.

Suspect Raymond Wilson, 31, had been arrested 19 times since November before he was taken into custody yet again for the June 12 incident where the child awoke to find the naked man pleasuring himself on her toes, cops said.

He was identified earlier this week through DNA recovered from a stain on the child’s cover and charged with slipping inside the young victim’s home through an unlocked rear door around 1 a.m., police said.

The oft-freed Wilson, in a raggedy gray T-shirt and shorts and wearing handcuffs, was jailed on $500,000 cash bail or $750,000 bond at a Thursday hearing in Manhattan Criminal Court.

“I’m requiring this defendant to return to court,” said Judge Anne Swern in imposing the six-figure bail. “Because of that criminal record. Because of the fact that he was not reachable by phone. Because I know he goes by a number of different names. Because he has 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 ... a number of different Social Security numbers.

“I think he faces a significan­t period of incarcerat­ion.”

According to authoritie­s, Wilson slipped inside the residence and fled only after the child was awakened by the stranger standing at the foot of her bed.

“The victim felt something slimy on her feet and noticed the defendant was rubbing his penis against her toes,” said Assistant District Attorney Meghan McNulty. “The victim screamed for her parents, but nobody was home except her younger sister, who was sleeping in another room.”

The creepy suspect threw on his clothes and bolted once his victim woke up, leaving behind a cigarette lighter and a camera lens before stealing a bicycle from the building hallway and pedaling off, police said.

The terrified girl stared at the bedroom door for 15-20 minutes, worried that the guy might return, before calling her mother.

Police later released surveillan­ce images of the suspect and asked for the public’s help identifyin­g him.

Wilson’s prior arrests since November include at least six burglaries, plus arrests on four successive days in May for lesser offenses, police said. But he was repeatedly sprung with no bail — sometimes with no conditions, other times under terms of supervisor­y release such as addiction treatment or job training.

“At what point are people going to realize bail reform is not working with guys like this?” asked a police source familiar with Wilson’s case. “It’s not the police. We’re doing our jobs. The prosecutor­s are not doing theirs.”

A spokeswoma­n for Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance Jr. acknowledg­ed bail was not sought in a number of cases where prosecutor­s had the option to do so.

On July 3, however, the DA did request $20,000 bail when Wilson was arraigned for an East Village burglary. The judge set bail at $7,500.

Wilson remained behind bars until July 20, when he pleaded guilty to the East Village burglary and eight other cases, including several for burglaries, one for grand larceny and one for drug possession. He was sentenced to time served and released.

Wilson was busted one last time around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday for allegedly breaking into a Theory clothing store on Greene St. in SoHo and running off with $3,520 worth of clothing — 12 pairs of shorts, 12 shirts and four pairs of shoes.

“I just came in to take a shower,” he told the arresting officers, police said.

When police ran his name they realized he was the attacker being sought not just for the sickening sex crime but for additional burglaries on May 16 and Nov. 23.
