Give us our due process

Kew Gardens: Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie needs to be reminded that we pay his salary and we paid for an investigation of Gov. Cuomo. The fact that Cuomo has pledged to resign did not negate the duty of the Assembly to reveal the results of the investigation. The shelving of the impeachment process has no bearing on our right to know about the governor’s culpability in nursing home deaths, the suppression of data, the misuse of state resources to write a book and the preferential treatment of family when it came to COVID. Heastie was dead wrong to keep the investigation under wraps, only to retreat because of the uproar. He made himself suspect and it enhances the image of Albany as a veritable cesspool.
