Sunnyside: I do not understand why Albert Fox Cahn and his acolytes in the Surveillance Technology Oversight Project are causing such an unwarranted commotion over the recent NYPD anti-crime project (“NYPD is too secretive on surveillance, say critics,” Aug. 10). Their complaints are especially troublesome now because they are coming at a time when a Chicago policewoman named Ella French has just been murdered, and it hasn’t been that long since another Chicago police officer, Samuel Jimenez, was murdered). I wish that Cahn and his cohorts would show just a little bit of sympathy to all the murdered police officers and their families, and I also wish that they would show a little bit of concern for the crime victims who would be helped by more police surveillance.
