Pete Buttigieg and his husband Chasten are new dads.

The Biden administration cabinet member shared on his personal Twitter account Tuesday that his family is getting bigger.

“For some time, Chasten and I have wanted to grow our family,” wrote the current secretary of transportation and former mayor of South Bend, Ind.

“We’re overjoyed to share that we’ve become parents! The process isn’t done yet and we’re thankful for the love, support, and respect for our privacy that has been offered to us. We can’t wait to share more soon,” he added.

Buttigieg made history early this year when he became the country’s first openly gay cabinet member to be confirmed by the Senate. He was sworn in, with his husband by his side, by Vice President Kamala Harris on Feb. 3.

The 39-year-old former Democratic presidential candidate started dating Chasten, 32, in August 2015.

After the couple announced their engagement in December 2017, they got married in a private ceremony at the Cathedral of St. James, a small Episcopal cathedral in South Bend on June 16, 2018.

Shortly after Buttigieg’s Tuesday tweet, former Houston Mayor Annise Parker congratulated the couple for their role in helping to change stereotypes for the millions of people who are less familiar with the LGBTQ community.

“As parents, they will now shine a national spotlight on LGBTQ families, who often face daunting challenges because of outdated policies that narrowly define what families are,” Parker, president and CEO of the LGBTQ Victory Institute, told the Daily News in a statement.

“Their adoption is an opportunity to have a national dialogue about creating a legal and legislative framework that supports all parents and children. Yet this is primarily about love and family, and we are absolutely thrilled for Pete and Chasten and know they will be fantastic fathers,” she added.
