It is with great sadness and deepest regret that we inform you of the passing of our Brother, Friend, and former Officer of the Enterprise Association of Steamfitters Local 638 Gary L. Abbate.

Gary’s career in Local 638 began after his service in the United States Army, where he proudly served with the First Division, The Big Red 1 in Vietnam.

He entered our Apprenticeship in September 1973. Gary spent many years in the field as a Journeyman Steamfitter and Welder, as well as serving our Union in many elected positions, Finance Board, Executive Board, Chairman of the Executive Board, and then Vice President of The Enterprise Association of Steamfitters Local 638 where he remained until his retirement in 2013.

Gary is survived by his cherished Family, His Wife Cathy, His 2 Daughters, Meghan and Kaitlin, His 2 Son in Laws, Rob and Jake, His 3 “Angels" Lizzy, Lily, and Henry, His 3 Brothers, Jack, Billy, and Tommy and his Sister Susan, His Brother and Sister in Law, Timmy and Lee Ann.

Our Heartfelt Sympathy goes out to His entire Family. Along with our love, prayers, and appreciation for his many years of

loyal and dedicated service to both our Country and our Union.
