Jags cut Tebow; ex-Jet Jamal becomes highest-paid safety

-

The Jaguars have officially pulled the plug on the Tim Tebow experiment.

The quarterback bust trying to make a comeback as a tight end announced Tuesday he’d been cut by the team.

“Thankful for the highs and even the lows, the opportunities, and the setbacks. I’ve never wanted to make decisions out of fear of failure and I’m grateful for the chance to have pursued a dream,” Tebow, 34, wrote on Twitter.

The Jaguars under new coach Urban Meyer signed him to a one-year contract on May 20 in the hopes he could redevelop himself into a tight end. In his first game experience at the position, however, his performance ended up being noteworthy for all its flaws.

“We knew that was an uphill battle for Tim,” Meyer said. “Players loved him, locker room loved him, but it was the right thing (to do).”
