SMERCAK, OSF, Brother Norman - Entered Eternal life on September4, 2021. He was born January 6, 1944 to Marie Dubina and Frank Smercak. Brother Norman grew up in Bronx, New York City and New Hyde Park, Long Island. He attended Holy Cross High School, St. Francis College graduating Magna Cum Laude and Yeshiva University. Brother Norman entered the Franciscan Brothers of Brooklyn and professed his religious vows on January 6, 1964. Brother Norman taught mathematic­s at Saint Francis Preparator­y School in Fresh Meadows, Queens, Tampa Catholic High School, St. Joseph's High School in St. Augustine, Florida and St. Anthony's High School in South Huntington, New York. Brother Norman was an excellent and outstandin­g High School teacher, a remarkable coach in football, swimming, cross country, track and field. Brother Norman enjoyed his 35 years serving in various positions at Camp Alvernia in Centerport, New York. Brother Norman retired from his teaching and coaching ministry, due to health setbacks while residing at St. Anthony's High School friary but continued to be involved in various school activities. Brother is survived by his sister Elizabeth Carlos,his

nephew Colin Patrick and his niece Kay Elizabeth. Viewing on Saturday,September 18, 2021 at Our Lady of Angels Chapel at St. Anthony's High School, 275 Wolf Hill Road, South Huntington, NY from 9 AM to 10:30 AM. Funeral Mass will follow at 11 AM in

Our Lady of Angels Chapel. Interment at Holy Rood Cemetery, Westbury, NY. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation to
