GIANTS AT WASHINGTON
AT FEDEX FIELD WHEN: 8:20 P.M. TV: CH. 4 LINE: WFT BY 3.5
1. CLEAN UP THE COVERAGE
James Bradberry, Adoree Jackson and the Giants’ secondary were picked apart by Denver Broncos QB Teddy Bridgewater in Week 1 . The pass rush has to be better, too, but receivers and tight ends were open quickly and often. Denver converted 1 0 times on third or fourth down. It would have looked worse but K.J. Hamler dropped a deep TD pass after beating Jackson. The coverage needs to be stickier against Washington’s Terry McLaurin & Co. and force QB Taylor Heinicke to hold the ball.
2. RUN THE BALL
Saquon Barkley and Devontae Booker combined for 3 3 total rushing yards on 2 .3 5 yards per carry against
Denver. Jason Garrett will hope that a new starting offensive line, possibly with Nick Gates at left guard and Billy Price at center, can get a better push. Barkley doesn’t look like himself yet coming off his knee rehab, so it will be difficult against the Washington interior D-line of Jonathan Allen and Daron Payne.
3. PROTECT THE QB AND BALL
Daniel Jones must build on his late Week 1 chemistry with Kenny Golladay. Tackles Andrew Thomas and Nate Solder have to contain edge rushers Chase Young and Montez Sweat. And Jones needs to avoid the kind of killer turnover he committed in the red zone on Sunday against the Broncos.
