A persistent enemy of our country
Staten Island: On a solemn day of remembrance on the 20th anniversary of one of the most memorable and tragic events — another “date which will live in infamy” — President Biden and former Presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush and Bill Clinton attended memorials. Only one was deliberately missing, former President Trump, who chose to visit NYC police and fire departments.
Being true to form, and while he praised their valiant efforts, he wasted no time in criticizing Biden’s withdrawal from Afghanistan. He was surprised and very serious as to why it hadn’t come up in other 9/11 memorial speeches. “It was gross incompetence,” he said. As we have heard ad nauseam since he lost the election, he told those in attendance that the election was rigged and made reference to fake news as he pointed to newscasters in the room. He then went back to Florida to call a boxing match on pay-per-view for $49.95.
We’ve heard the recitation of the names of those who perished, which included those on Flight 93, who knew they would perish as did the others, and who took the position of diverting the plane that crashed in an empty field outside Shanksville, Pa. The 9/11 Commission reveals that it was just 240 miles northwest of Washington, or about another 30 minutes of flying time from the nation’s capital. It is still unknown if the hijackers’ destination was the White House or the Capitol, the latter being attacked almost 20 years later by our own U.S. citizens influenced by Trump’s incendiary rhetoric since losing the election and prompted by his rallying cry to “fight like hell” to stop the certification of Biden’s victory on Jan. 6, 2021 — another date which will live in infamy.
