Mailbag Dear Gridlock Sam,

I’m an MTA bus operator. At the end of my route there’s frequently a car illegally parked or double-parked that makes left turns more difficult onto Quentin Road.

It appears to belong to a local restaurant. I have made several 311 requests over months noting that it is unregistered and has no plates.

After my first complaint the car suddenly had a commercial plate placed on the rear. My 2nd complaint was immediately closed, with the response that I did not provide enough contact information; of course, 311 complaints can be anonymous. My 3rd complaint resulted in the car again being quickly relocated.

I can’t help but feel someone is tipping off the owner.

Dear Vincent,

Vincent

Outrageous! MTA bus operators have a hard enough time without cars illegally parking and hampering turns. It’s times like this I miss being in charge of parking enforcement. This car would be at the end of a tow-truck hook before you could say Kings Highway.

I don’t know if someone is tipping off the driver, but I have included that in my complaint to the NYPD. Let me know if this continues. My next stop will be the City’s Department of Investigations; they are looking into allegations of harassment of callers reporting driver misconduct to 311.
