Dump truck hits, kills woman, 76, in Co-op City

A dump truck fatally struck an elderly woman on a Co-op City street in the Bronx Monday, police said.

Lola Blair, 76, was crossing Einstein Loop at about 11:45 a.m. when a dump truck belonging to Riverbay Corp., which runs Coop City, made a left turn off the Hutchinson River Parkway East and hit her, police said.

The truck’s driver, a 62-year-old man, drove a short distance, then circled back to the scene, police said.

Medics took Blair, who lived in the sprawling Bronx apartment complex, to Jacobi Medical Center, but she couldn’t be saved.

The crash remains under investigation, police said.
