- Rocco Parascandola

A 4-year-old boy got the scare of his life when a mugger snatched a pricey gold chain from his mother’s neck, causing them to tumble onto a Bronx sidewalk, police said Friday.

The 24-year-old mother and her son were walking on Grand Concourse near Anthony Ave, at about 5:20 p.m. when the suspect attacked, police said.

He is seen on video running up behind the mother and son, grabbing her $6,500 gold chain with his left hand and yanking it.

It didn’t immediately break free from her neck. As he pulled the chain, he caused the mother and her son to fall to the sidewalk, video shows.

The mugger ran south on Grand Concourse, then hopped on a green moped and sped away.

The woman and her son scratched their hands and knees but did not need a doctor.

Police described the suspect as 18 to 25 years old and last seen wearing blue jeans, black sneakers and a white T-shirt over a black T-shirt.

Anyone with information about the attacker was asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
