2 teens hoping to be rap stars shot

- Rocco Parascandola

Two teens trying to make it in the city’s booming drill rap scene were wounded in a caught-oncamera shooting in the Bronx, police said.

The victims, a 14-year-old boy hit in the left arm and a 15-yearold boy struck in the left leg, were described by cops as aspiring drill rappers.

The musical genre, known for its pounding bass and street-tough, trash-talking lyrics, is wildly popular and has earned criticism from Mayor Adams, who says it fuels real-life violence.

At 9:30 p.m. Thursday, police said two gunmen on E. 197th St. near Decatur Ave. were caught on video firing down the block.

The young rappers wounded by the blasts were part of a larger group, police said. It wasn’t clear who the gunmen were targeting.

The younger teen was in stable condition at Jacobi Hospital. The older teen was in stable condition at St. Barnabas Hospital. Both were expected to recover.
