Man with camera stirs fear in Brooklyn school

A Brooklyn man showed up at his high school with a Go-Pro camera and talked about the lax security in the wake of a Texas school massacre, raising alarm over a potential copycat, police said Thursday.

Brian LoBianco, 27, was later arrested and charged with criminal trespass and attempted burglary.

According to police, LoBianco on Wednesday walked into St. Edmund Preparatory High School in Midwood around 8 a.m. An alumnus of the school, he was wearing the school uniform, plus a black mask, black sunglasses and a Yankee cap — and had a Go-Pro camera around his neck, cops said.

When school security stopped him, LoBianco initially responded that he was a student before admitting he used to attend the school, police said.

He also mentioned the school shooting in Uvalde, Texas, where 19 children and two adults were slain by an 18-year-old gunman, and said he was there to make a video, apparently about the ease with which one could get into the school. He did not make a threat, police said.

He was escorted out of the building (photo), then changed his clothes nearby, lingered for a while before leaving, police said.

At some point, school officials realized who he was and police were called. He was formally arrested at 5:20 a.m. Thursday at his home a half-mile away.

LoBianco has no prior arrest record.

His mother, who didn’t give her name, disputed that he was trying to sneak into his old school.

“You can’t sneak into the school. How is that even possible?” she said. “He went there, but obviously he doesn’t go there anymore.”

When asked about the camera around his neck, she said, “Go-Pro, what is a Go-Pro? All I know is that he talked to a teacher at the school.”

She added, “He’s a very good kid. He’s never been in trouble before.”

The school had no comment.
