Teen killed in three-car crash on Brooklyn highway: police

- BY THOMAS TRACY

A teenage motorist was killed early Saturday when the minivan he was driving slammed into two other vehicles and tumbled off a Brooklyn highway, cops said.

Arizona resident Mohammed Ayth Alkotait, 16, was thrown from his minivan as it landed onto the Shore Parkway service road off the eastbound side of the Belt Parkway near Bay Parkway in Bensonhurst, police said.

Witnesses to the 2 a.m. crash told police that the van was traveling east at a high rate of speed when it clipped a Kia and a

Hyundai before flipping over.

The out-of-control minivan rolled off the highway onto the service road before coming to a stop.

Alkotait was ejected from the minivan. Investigators do not believe that the teen was wearing a seatbelt, police sources said. EMS rushed him to NYU Langone-Brooklyn, where he died. His name was not immediately released as cops tracked down family members.

Four passengers in the van were also taken to NYU Langone-Brooklyn, where they were expected to recover.

The drivers of the Kia and Hyundai were not seriously injured.
