Faith

At St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Academy in Astoria (SFACA), we believe in the dignity of all human beings and support an environment that builds respectful relationships. Catholic teachings and social justice themes are integrated into our curriculum to empower our students to be leaders of tomorrow. We strive to lead a way of life rooted in Christ through a vision that provides inspiration to our members.

Service

We have a strong desire to serve others and recognize the need for change. Ourschool community has partnered with Make-a-Wish, God’s Love We Deliver, among many others to make adifference in communities.

Excellence

We believe that it is our responsibility to provide solutions to help children learn. To accomplish this, we have shifted our focus towards NYS Next Generation Standards, Social Emotional Competencies, and the Arts. We start each day by asking ourselves three questions. What do our students need to know? What do our students need to become critical thinkers? And what skills are required for our students to become successful?

A Caring Community

The graduates of SFACA receive the rich Gospel values and essential skills that enable them to become productive citizens. In Affair of the Heart by Patricia Jordan, we learn that “in 1208, St. Francis of Assisi heard the words of the Gospel not only with his ears, but with his heart, and it changed his life forever.” It is our hope that for our students, an SFACA education will make their lives and the lives of those they touch

better in every community.
