Robust Course Options

At WCHS, high-quality academic programs await you. We provide options to take your time and figure out where destiny is calling you. Our robust selection of courses lists all of your options for classes, seminars, internship­s, and independen­t study opportunit­ies. We offer an exceptiona­l honors program and college credited courses such as Advanced Placement (AP) courses, SUPA (Syracuse University Project Advanced), and more. Our core classes infuse culture, art, and experience with standards-aligned coursework that engage students and get at the heart of a variety of learning styles and intelligen­ces.

Explore your creative side with a trimester of performing arts (dance, theatre, vocal music, or music recording) or visual arts (graphic design, drawing, painting, photograph­y, and ceramics). Create in an inspiring and supportive community!

WCHS also offers a wide variety of services and supports to enable students to reach their full potential and create and achieve their dreams for graduation, college, careers, and beyond! These services include a special education and comprehens­ive literacy program, resource room, integrated co-teaching, self-contained core classes, speech and language, hearing specialist provided by the DOE, reading specialist, and academic interventi­on specialist­s.

Dual Language Program

The dual language program teaches students core subjects in two languages where English and their home language, Spanish, are used equally. The Dual Language program is for incoming ninthgrade students.

English as a New Lannguage (ENL) Program

We offer a mix of integrated co-taught ENL classes in the four major content areas, including English, History, Science, and Math, as well as a specific ENL class for students in the first three ELL performanc­e levels.

Extracurri­culars

WCHS also offers a variety of clubs and leadership programs throughout the school year, including cheerleadi­ng, choir, dance & step, fitness/workout/martial arts, ceramics open studio, musical theater, anime, cooking, peer tutoring, Model UN, National Honor Society, student ambassador­s, student government...and many more!

WCHS offers a variety of sports programs such as baseball, flag football, varsity basketball, junior varsity basketball, soccer, softball, track, and volleyball.

Community

The Williamsbu­rg Charter High School unites youth, families, staff, teachers, and the community in their goals of providing young people with the tools necessary to make sense of the world and preparing them for their journey to become citizens of the local and global community. Young people will accomplish this through participat­ion in a liberal arts education that includes language, literature, writing, science, history, mathematic­s, the visual and performing arts, technology, and exploratio­ns in discipline­s designed to teach justice, independen­t thinking, respect, and compassion for themselves and others as well as the skills of critical thinking, communicat­ion and research.

Williamsbu­rg Charter High School received its operating charter in February of 2004. The public, community charter school serves 963 students in grades 9-12 and is located at 198 Varet Street in the Bushwick section of Brooklyn.
