Woman, 71, critically injured in Brooklyn apartment bldg. fire
Seventeen people were hurt in a Williamsburg apartment building fire Monday morning, according to the FDNY.
The most seriously injured victim was taken to Brooklyn Hospital Center in critical condition.
According to “WABC Eyewitness News,” that victim is a 71-year-old woman
The FDNY said firefighters responded to the burning building on Penn St. near Harrison Ave. following a 6:38 a.m. 911 call.
The fire started on the first floor and spread to the second floor. A number of people were rescued by firefighters using a portable ladder and a ladder extending from a fire truck, the FDNY said.
The injured include three people taken to NYU Langone Health with minor injuries. Thirteen others were treated at the scene.
The cause of the twoalarm fire, which was brought under control at 7:44 a.m., is under investigation.
