Longtime Knick radio voice Brown & MSG ‘part company’

Brendan Brown, a voice of Knicks radio for over a decade, is off the air and no longer with MSG Networks, the Daily News has learned.

“MSG Networks and Brendan Brown have decided to part company,” a MSG Networks spokesperson said in a statement. “For the remainder of the season, various personalities including former Knick John Wallace, will serve as the Knicks radio analyst on the MSG Radio Network on ESPN.”

Wallace, a former Knicks draft pick, stepped in as the analyst in late November for the broadcasts on ESPN NY 98.7. More recently, MSG Networks TV analysts Alan Hahn, Wally Sczerbiak and Monica McNutt stepped into the radio role.

Brown replaced the legendary John Andariese in 2012. His play-by-play partners included Spero Dedes, Mike Crispino and the current voice, Ed Cohen.

Wallace, who also appears on television for MSG Network’s various shows, was drafted by the Knicks out of Syracuse in 1996 and played two seasons for the franchise in separate stints.

Brown’s father, Hubie, is a former Knicks head coach who guided Bernard King and Patrick Ewing in the 1980s. Hubie transitioned to a Hall of Fame TV broadcast career and, at 89 years old, is still calling games on ESPN.

Brendan Brown, known for his technical basketball expertise on the air, was an assistant coach for Wake Forest and the Memphis Grizzlies before joining MSG Networks. He was also an NBA scout.

The Knicks (25-23), losers of four straight, next face Donovan Mitchell and the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday at MSG.
