Kangaroo court in Ga. out to get me: Trump

- BY DAVE GOLDINER

Former President Donald Trump Wednesday blasted the Georgia grand jury that has apparently recommended he and several allies should be indicted on election interference charges.

Just days after praising the panel, Trump flip-flopped and attacked the jury forewoman for speaking publicly about some of the panel’s findings to several media outlets.

“This is not JUSTICE, this is an illegal Kangaroo Court,” Trump said on his social media site.

As Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis prepares to announce “imminent” indictments in the probe, Trump derided the jury’s leader, Emily Kohrs, 30, for going public spilling the beans. “You have an extremely energetic young woman ... going around and doing a Media Tour revealing, incredibly, the Grand Jury’s inner workings & thoughts,” Trump said.

Kohrs, 30, raised eyebrows by giving several unusual interviews Tuesday about the grand jury’s work and made open hints about what it recommended.

Although she didn’t openly say the panel wanted Trump to be charged, the self-proclaimed political independent suggested as much, saying “it isn’t rocket science” and that “you’re not going to be shocked.”

Legal eagles from across the political spectrum winced at Kohrs’ remarks, saying it would be better to avoid giving any ammunition to Trump or other potential defendants.

After hearing seven months of testimony, the grand jury recently submitted a final report to Willis, who now has the authority to seek indictments of Trump and others from a separate grand jury.

A judge last week released small portions of the report, including a section in which the grand jury said it believed some witnesses lied to it.

The judge ruled the rest of the report should stay sealed for now.

Trump responded by falsely claiming that the report was a “TOTAL EXONERATION!” of him.

The probe was launched after Trump’s Jan. 3, 2021, call to Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger demanding he “find” enough votes to allow him to overhaul Joe Biden’s narrow Peach State win. It delved into his claims of election fraud and his push to get Republicans to appoint a bogus slate of fake electors that was designed to create doubt about Biden’s win.
