- Peter Sblendorio

JoJo is set to bring some star power to Broadway’s “Moulin Rouge! The Musical.”

The pop star behind the hits “Leave (Get Out)” and “Too Little Too Late” will make her Broadway debut in the role of Satine during a 14-week run beginning April 11, producers announced Thursday.

She’ll replace Ashley Loren, whose last performance is April 9.

“When I first saw this musical

I fell instantly head over heels in love,” JoJo tweeted Thursday. “I watched from the edge of my seat, hanging onto every word of every song. This show is a full on feast for the senses and the opportunity to play Satine feels like the culmination of so many dreams.

I cannot believe I get to join this phenomenal cast and company!”

JoJo, 32, headlines a cast shakeup that will also see the departure of Aaron Tveit, who originated the role of Christian in 2019 and won a Tony for best actor in a musical for his performance. Tveit left the show last May but returned in January for a 12-week engagement.

Adapted from Baz Luhrmann’s 2001 film, Broadway’s “Moulin Rouge!” won 10 Tonys, including best musical, in 2021. Karen Olivo originated the Broadway role of Satine, which was played by Nicole Kidman in the movie.

JoJo, whose real name is Joanna Levesque, has starred in several films, including 2008’s “True Confessions of a Hollywood Starlet.” She also appeared on TV series such as “Hawaii Five-0,” “Lethal Weapon” and “All American.” Her “Moulin Rouge!” engagement is scheduled to last through July 26.
