Tries to stop fight, hit by car on Upper E. Side
A good Samaritan trying to break up a fight between women on an Upper East Side street was rammed by a car when one of the brawlers jumped behind the wheel and tried to run him down, police said Thursday.
The man came upon two women beating up a woman on Second Ave. near E. 91st St. about 5:20 p.m. April 2, cops said. He ran over and tried to break up the fight by pulling the two combatants off of the woman.
Outraged, one of the attackers ran over to her white Kia idling nearby and hit the gas. The hood of the Kia slammed into the good Samaritan’s legs, knocking him to the ground.
The woman who was with the Kia driver jumped into the passenger seat and the two sped off, cops said. They have not been caught.
The woman they were attacking ran off without reporting the incident to police, a police source said.
The good Samaritan suffered injuries to both his legs, cops said. Medics took him to New York-Presbyterian Hospital Weill Cornell, where he was treated and released.
Cops learned that the woman driving the Kia had gone into Knickerbocker Plaza, a nearby luxury apartment building, and spoke to security at the front desk before the clash outside.
Cops on Thursday released surveillance images of the suspect smiling as she spoke to security in the hopes someone recognizes her.
The suspect is described as in her 20s with a slim build. She was sporting long braids and wearing a gray hoodie, black pants, a black shirt and black sneakers.
