NEW YORK CITY BALLET’S annual Fall Fashion Gala sets the stage for an experience uniting dance and fashion design. Since NYCB Board Vice Chair Sarah Jessica Parker first conceived of the idea in 2012, the annual event has paired renowned designers with groundbreaking choreographers to infuse dance with the flair of high fashion.
In anticipation of the eighth edition of the Fall Fashion Gala on September 26, which pairs choreographers Lauren Lovette and Edwaard Liang with famed New York designers Zac Posen and Anna Sui, NYCB has partnered with Intersect by Lexus for an exciting new exhibit — Design in Motion: A New York City Ballet Fall Fashion Gala Retrospective. Curated by NYCB’s Director of Costumes Marc Happel, the exhibit looks back on the stunning costumes that have taken center stage over the past seven years.
Design in Motion is a free exhibit from September 24 – October 20 at Intersect by Lexus (412 W 14th St.), offering the opportunity to view original ballet costumes designed by 26 visionary creators such as Valentino, Prabal Gurung, Carolina Herrera, Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen, Humberto Leon of Opening Ceremony and Kenzo, Dries Van Noten, Virgil Abloh of Off-White, Giles Deacon, and more.
The September 26 Fall Fashion Gala will be held at Lincoln Center with encore performances September 27, 28 eve, Oct 2, 6, and 13. For more information visit nycballet.com/classicnycbfall.
