I love being surprised by an artist fiddling with their work, altering course some, then taking my breath away. For years, I looked at Ann Craven’s pretty, colorful, repeating series of the same subjects painted at the same scale and thought, Nice,
but why the repetition? Here, the repetition is gone, and Craven shows us she can pretty much do anything she wants with a paintbrush.
