Two great shows of his work from the 1970s that shine like a beacon of possibility for younger artists tired of high-priced, overproduced sculptures made by giant teams of assistants. Rauschenberg reintroduces us to the shamanic idea of generating art from whatever is around, but all made by hand from the core of obsession, driven by need and urge.
