Shostakovich’s 1934 opera about a desperate Soviet housewife acquired its anti-totalitarian credentials from Stalin, who loathed it. Soprano Svetlana Sozdateleva, in the title role opposite tenor Brandon Jovanovich, makes her Met debut, as does conductor Keri-Lynn Wilson.
