Christie at the RNC — New Jersey’s Truth-teller

-

As an 85yearold former teacher and union member, I listened to New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie’s keynote address with great attention (“Mitt’s OneTwo Punch,” Editorial, Aug. 29).

The speech was a bellringer, a touchdown and a home run all wrapped up in brilliance.

Had I heard this speech when I graduated from Fordham University, my attitudes and thinking would certainly have been changed.

Christie’s speech is a beacon for all who would like to lead a productive and happy life.

Plaudits to the Republican Party for developing our current and future leaders.

Christie was enlisted to give the keynote address for the Republican National Convention and spent the entire speech lauding himself.

I think that speech will be remembered as the moment when Christie jumped the shark. His schtick just isn’t interesting or funny anymore.

The key to the keynote was the call for “telling it like it is.”

Christie — like Ron Paul, Paul Ryan and Mitt Romney — had the courage to say that we cannot continue down the path of fiscal insanity.

What Christie articulated was a clear demarcation between Obama and the progressives versus the conservative and Tea Party vision for our future.

Regardless of how you feel about Christie, he has thrown down the gauntlet over the battle for the future of our country.

vote for Christie for president! Oh, he isn’t running? He could have fooled me. That sure sounded like a campaign speech last night. When Christie does run, he has my vote.

His Sicilian mother probably named him after the most famous Christopher of all — Columbus.

The explorer claimed America long ago, but I am putting my money on Christie reclaiming it and bringing pride and dignity back to the land of the free and the home of the brave.
