“People believe it’s between a husband and a wife — and both of their wives have stayed with them. It could [also] be the public mea culpas,” Pirro said.

“Or maybe there are women that just think, ‘Men are pigs,’ and they move on from there.”

Some women voters agreed yesterday that Spitzer and Weiner deserve a second chance.

“People make mistakes. That doesn’t mean they aren’t good politicians and good political leaders,” said management assistant Diana Hoffman, 36, of Park Slope, Brooklyn. “Hopefully, both of them learned their lesson. They certainly embarrassed themselves.” But not everyone is so forgiving. Sonia Ossorio, president of New York’s National Organization for Women chapter, admitted spousal loyalty could play a role, but insisted that was a lousy reason for voting for a tarnished candidate.

“This isn’t the ‘Housewives of New York City.’ Personal forgiveness during a relationship is an entirely different matter than the qualif ications that we’re looking for in elected off icials,” said Ossorio, who had harsh words for both candidates.

“Spitzer broke the law. Here is the man who raised penalties for everyone else who patronized prostitutes , but he thinks he’s above the l aw,” she said.

Weiner sexted “unsolicited pictures of his weewee to women,” she said. “This is the man who would be running the most important city in the world?”
