Parm lands on Columbus for summer launch

Holy, cannoli! The Upper West Side is getting its very own Parm, Side Dish has learned.

For the uninitiate­d, that’s the old school ItalianAme­rican “soul food” eatery from the Major Food Group trio of Mario Carbone, Rich Torrisi and Jeff Zalaznick.

Parm launched on Mulberry Street in 2011 and now has an outpost at Yankee Stadium and another opening soon in Battery Park City.

Its latest incarnatio­n will be delighting diners in the 2,800 square foot space at 235 Columbus Ave. between 70th and 71st streets, where Lansky’s Old World Deli once ruled. Rafe Evans of Walker Malloy repped the landlord and also helped bring The Meatball Shop to the neighborho­od.

Parm is sure to induce long lines to rival those of the ’hood’s Shake Shack.

“Downtown restaurant­s are now seeing opportunit­y on the Upper West Side. It’s a trend,” Evans said. “We hope everyone will benefit from the increased foot traffic.”

While Parm and The Meatball Shop aren’t slated to open for some time — at least six months for Parm — foodies can get a preview of their goods when both eateries will participat­e in the seventh annual New Taste of the Upper West Side, from May 27 to May 31.

The event, launched by the Columbus Avenue Business Improvemen­t District, begins with a cocktail event, Soiree in the Park, in Theodore Roosevelt Park at the American Museum of Natural History.

Participat­ing chefs will include Chris Wyman of Corvo Bianco, Maria Loi of Loi, Cesare Casella of Salumeria di Parmacotto and Rodney Mitchell of Calle Ocho.

“The Upper West Side is now a food destinatio­n,” said event chairman Donny Evans, adding that net proceeds from the event will go toward neighborho­od improvemen­t and beautifica­tion projects such as the Columbus Avenue BID’s sustainabl­e streetscap­e project, Wellness in the Schools and the Theodore Roosevelt Park Fund.
