nA crook (above) yanked an air conditioner out of the window of a Belmont newsstand, slipped inside, and swiped cash and merchandise, authorities said Sunday.
The thief broke into the stand on East Fordham Road near Webster Avenue sometime after midnight July 27, police said.
Surveillance video from inside the kiosk shows the man, about 25 years old, rifling through merchandise with a small flashlight clenched in his teeth.
The burglar made off with cash, as well as cigarettes, MetroCards and phone cards, according to cops.
Brooklyn
nA reckless shooter repeatedly fired at a rival on a Bushwick street, just feet away from a 5yearold girl riding her tricycle, police said Sunday.
The stocky gunman (pictured above) blasted the fleeing victim, 24, at Moffat Street and Wilson Avenue just after 8 p.m. Friday, authorities said.
The thug pumped another round into his incapacitated victim before dashing south on Moffat, according to cops.
The victim was taken to Kings County Hospital in stable condition with gunshot wounds to his lower back and left leg.
The shooter, believed to be in his 20s, stands about 5foot7 and weighs approximately 225 pounds. He was wearing a Yankees cap, a white Tshirt and blue jeans.
n Police are looking for a thief (above) who knocked off an East New York bank, stuffing her loot into a brightpink bag.
The crook passed a demand note to a teller in the Chase branch on Linden Boulevard near Hendrix Street at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, according to cops.
The teller forked over cash, which the robber shoved into the colorful sack before fleeing from the bank, police said.
The crook is believed to be in her mid20s to mid30s, and stands 5foot7. She was wearing a lightblue baseball cap, sunglasses and surgical gloves.
nA vicious thief wrestled a woman’s purse away from her as she was walking into her Crown Heights home, authorities said Sunday.
The 35yearold victim was headed into her Washington Avenue residence just before 10:30 p.m. July 28 when the mugger grabbed her purse from behind, according to cops.
The gutsy woman tried to hold on to the bag, but the brute yanked so hard, he flung the woman into a pole and made off with it, police said.
The victim was treated for minor injuries to her arm.
Manhattan
nA fleetfooted bagsnatcher was nabbed by Port Authority cops when he was spotted dodging cars near the Lincoln Tunnel during his attempted getaway, an agency spokesman said Sunday.
Jonathan Jackson, 24, caught the attention of PA officers who spotted him weaving in between vehicles near the congested approach to the tunnel at 2 p.m. Saturday, according to PAPD spokesman Joe Pentangelo.
Officers caught Jackson after a brief pursuit and were questioning him when another man came up to them and said Jackson had stolen his bag minutes earlier at West 40th Street and Ninth Avenue, Pentangelo said.
The victim’s bag and $60 in cash were recovered from Jackson, who was charged with trespassing, petit larceny, and possession of stolen property, authorities said.
Jackson, of The Bronx, also had an open warrant for fare evasion, they said.
Staten Island
nA stickyfingered crook swiped a pair of sneakers from a Champs Sports store in the Staten Island Mall, and then pulled a knife on a worker who tried to stop him, authorities said Sunday.
The thief (above) took the kicks from the store in the Heartland Village mall at 2 p.m. July 4, cops said.
The robber whipped out a knife, ordered the worker to back off, and fled with the Nike Air Max 1995 shoes, according to police.
The sneakers retail on Champs’ Web site for $120 to $180 a pair.
The crook, believed to be about 20 years old, is approximately 5foot5 and 130 pounds.
He was wearing a gray hoodie over a white Tshirt.
