A Sad Day in Sydney

-

The United States should take a lesson from Australian lawenforcement agencies (“Terror Down Under,” Editorial, Dec. 16).

No negotiating with terrorists. You go in, kill the terrorists and lead the civilians to safety. In that country, members of barbaric groups know that they will be killed if they take civilian hostages.

In the United States, Attorney General Eric Holder would launch an investigation to determine if law enforcement is in violation of any civilrights laws, and the ACLU would question whether or not the terrorists had any of their civil rights violated.

It is time to end the political correctness.

While in the company of the Prophet Mohammed, one of his companions took a few eggs from a bird’s nest. The mother bird became upset and began circling the group.

Prophet Mohammed noticed this bizarre behavior and inquired if someone had taken her eggs. When one companion admitted that he had taken them, Mohammed replied: “Put it back and have mercy.”

This was the prophet who taught his followers to even have mercy and be kind to animals. The siege that took place in Sydney is a clear violation of this teaching. Mohammed taught kindness to every creature, but a terrorist justifies his actions under the banner of Islam. Clearly, such actions are a violation of the teachings and example set by Mohammed.

As a member of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, I strongly condemn this barbaric act and pray for those who were affected. Sheheryar Ahmad Everett, Wash.
