buy hard with a vengeance

Bruce Willis’ (left) name goes far in the real estate biz. So far, in fact, that it took less than a week for his Upper West Side apartment to enter contract. The three-bedroom, 3 ½ -bathroom unit is on the fourth floor of the famed El Dorado, located at 300 Central Park West. It was on the market for $12.99 million. Willis and his wife, emma Heming (inset), love the neighborhood, we hear. However, now that the couple has two little ones, the family is looking for a bigger nest. The home, which used to belong to U2’s Adam Clayton, includes Central Park views, “loft-like entertainment spaces,” according to the listing, and a corner master bedroom suite with a spa bathroom and steam shower and a dressing room. The chef ’s kitchen was made from two maids’ rooms. Douglas Elliman’s Ann Cutbill Lenane had the listing. SPEAKING of the El Dorado, Meredith Vieira (right) has closed on the penthouse at the iconic building, Gimme Shelter can reveal exclusively. The talk show host’s new unit is a three-bedroom, four-bathroom beauty that was last asking $8.55 million, though the closing price is not available. The apartment comes with two large, planted terraces and great views of the Central Park reservoir. The penthouse was recently renovated and hasn’t been lived in since that time, according to the listing. The unit comes with a private elevator landing with a terrace door, a “loftlike” living room, formal dining room, oak floors, a two-sided woodburning fireplace and 10-foot ceilings. The master suite features a large dressing area. There’s also a nice eat-in chef ’s kitchen. Listing broker Karen Adler, of The Corcoran Group, declined to comment.

Art history

Before McMansions invaded the East End, the area was known for its light — and its artists. And a two-bedroom, two-bathroom East Hampton cottage and artist studio at 14 Sandra Road now on the market is rumored to have been the studio of Lee Krasner, who was married to Jackson Pollock. Painter and editor Elaine de Kooning — who was married to Willem de Kooning — later bought the spread, which is currently listed for $650,000. The last owner of the cottage was the artist Alexandra Dain, who used it as a home and studio for her paintings, sculpture, pottery and drawings. The 1,500-square-foot property, which not surprisingly gets great light, comes with 18-foot ceilings and sits on half an acre. The home comes with a sunken living room and a den that can be converted to a third bedroom. There’s also a woodburning fireplace and a master suite with glass doors, a vaulted ceiling and an ensuite bath. The listing brokers are Corcoran’s Bryan Midlam and Vanessa Mothes.
