Hollywood’s hidden drama

-

IT was not all air kissing and champagne swilling at the Golden Globes — there was also some behindthescenes drama, including director David Fincher seen in a huge argument with a top Hollywood journalist.

Fincher, the acclaimed director of “Gone Girl,” was spotted in a heated exchange with The Wrap’s Sharon Waxman at the back of the theater at the Beverly Hilton as the awards were handed out on Sunday night.

Fincher was seen telling Waxman, “Let me answer!” Sources tell us the pair has a longstanding feud over a book written by Waxman.

Meanwhile, as stars, including Amy Adams, Patricia Arquette, Kevin Spacey and George Clooney, were accepting their awards, paramed ics raced backstage with full equipment. After a few minutes, the EMTS raced back out of the theater. A security guard told us, “There are a lot of things going on here.” When we asked why the paramedics went backstage, the guard deadpanned, “Someone stubbed their toe.”

The Golden Globes is said to be the most enjoyable awards ceremony, due to the freeflowing Moët and because stars can mingle and smoke outside on the terrace during frequent ad breaks.

Perhaps having indulged a little, Ricky Gervais was adlibbing his comments when he took to the stage with jokes, including, “I don’t want to have a John Travolta moment.”

In the auditorium, Harvey Weinstein was powwowing with Melissa McCarthy, Kate Hudson was seen taking selfies with Gwyneth Paltrow, and Clooney and Amal Alamuddin vied for the most glamorous couple with Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux.

An Afrowigwearing Prince was seen sneaking backstage to present the award for Best Original Song – Motion Picture, which went to Common and John Legend’s “Glory,” from “Selma.”

Outside on the terrace, Paul Rudd and Adam Levine were seen in deep conversation, while Joaquin Phoenix was spotted chainsmoking, telling top producer Megan Ellison he was not drinking because he’s “feeling sick.”

And Benedict Cumberbatch’s actress fiancée, Sophie Hunter, revealed an elegant baby bump — when she wasn’t covering it with her purse.
