Weird BUT true

Rookie firefighter Matt Benoit had a memorable first call, helping to douse a blaze with his mom.

Benoit’s Lunenburg, La., department was called to fight the fire along with the Leominster Fire Department, led by Lt. Audra Brown, Benoit’s mom.

“I wasn’t concerned or anything,” Brown said, adding, “I always tell him to check his equipment and don’t be complacent.”

That’s a lot of coin! A onecent piece minted in 1792 sold at a Florida auction for $2.35 million.

The rare penny bears the motto, “Liberty Parent of Science & Industry,” which wasn’t used on future coins.

Switzerland is taking an unpopular stance — against cheaper pizza.

Pizza shops in the German border region of Hochrhein-Bodensee have long taken advantage of a customs exception that allowed them to deliver into Switzerland without stopping at customs, but not anymore.

Swiss consumers with strong francs like the cheap German pies, but pizzerias worry delays from the new law could kill their business.

A Canadian woman convicted of fraud screamed out in court that she was “taking the Fifth!” Fifth what? There is no Fifth Amendment against selfincrimination in Canada because, well, it’s not the US.

The woman, who has likely seen tons of crime dramas, should’ve invoked Canada’s “Section 11 and 13 of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms” instead. But that just doesn’t sound as cool.

YouTube is kid and genital friendly now.

The video Web site has lifted a restriction on a Swedish kids show that uses a cartoon penis and cartoon vagina to teach kids about their bodies.

Swedish kids can now hear catchy song lyrics such as, “Here comes the penis at full pace,” and, “The vagina is cool, you better believe it, even on an old lady.”
