The “Married at First Sight” cast members are back in a new reality series documenting the two couples who stayed together after the five-week arranged marriage experiment.
Spinoff “Married at First Sight: The First Year” — premiering Tuesday at 9 p.m. on FYI — follows Doug hehner and Jamie Otis and Jason Carrion and Cortney hendrix from the six-month mark to their one-year wedding anniversary in March. Nearly 10 months after saying, “I do” to a stranger, both couples talked to The Post about the state of their stillnew marriages.
Doug & Jamie
hehner, 31, and Otis, 28, got off to a rocky start, with her worrying she had made a huge mistake on her wedding day when she wasn’t immediately attracted to her new husband — but now the two couldn’t be more in love.
“I’ve become more and more attracted to him every day,” Otis tells The Post. “I’m glad that he’s more of an average guy with a great personality, a great heart, a great soul, that’s exactly what I wanted.”
Since the “MAFS” finale, the newlyweds moved to a townhouse in Sayreville, NJ, to be nearer to hehner’s job and tight-knit family — who Otis is now close with, too. And she’s already anxious to start a family of their own though he wants to wait, which has caused some heated discussion in their relationship.
“It’s definitely generated some talk. I just think that we’re not where we need to be as a couple to introduce a child,” hehner says. “It takes focus off of the relationship and there’s still room to grow for Jamie and I. But it’s something definitely in the near future for us.”
