This will Force me to finally watch!

IHAVE a confession — I’m a “Star Wars” virgin. That’s right: I have never seen the movies.

And to make matters worse, I’ve been dating— for just about 10 years — a comicbook nerd who grew up swinging lightsabers and saving star systems.

There’s no single reason I haven’t become one with the Force. I’d like to point the finger at my age or my gender, but mostly, it has to do with the feeling of dread that comes over me every time I think about sitting down to watch all six movies.

I was born 13 years after the original film wowed movie goers and created a legion of loyal followers. By the time “Revenge of the Sith” came out, I was well into my angsty teen years and couldn’t care less about delving into the messedup relationship between Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker.

But age is no excuse, as plenty of my fellow Millennials are “Star Wars” addicts. And many of those fans include women, so I can’t blame that, either.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m no hater of fantasy films or shows that create their own worlds. I’m an avid “Game of Thrones” fan, I love what The CW’s doing with the DC Comics universe, and I’ve read the entire Harry Potter series— twice.

Watching the “Star Wars” movies has been on my list of things to do for years. I keep it on the DL that I haven’t seen them, and skate by understanding basic references like “I am your father” and Yoda’s unconventional sentence structure.

As of Friday, all six movies will be available with the click of a button. So I guess it’s time.

And honestly, I’m glad. It’s about time I embraced the very thing that paved the road for modern sciencefiction flicks and continues to transcend through generations. Plus, “Star Wars” isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

This weekend, I’m going to have a date withmy TV. I’ll happily click “next,” and before I know it, I’ll be a Jedi master.
