‘ Like he e was kill a deer’ – mom

The devastated parents of the man fatally shot in the back by a South Carolina cop said the officer “looked like hewas trying to kill a deer” as he gunned down their 50yearold son.

“That was the most horrible thing I’ve ever seen,” Walter Scott’smom, Judy ( above), said on ABC’s “Good Morning America” Wednesday.

“I almost couldn’t look at it. To see my son running defenselessly — being shot— just tore me to pieces and I pray that this never happens to another person. This has to stop.”

Her comments came the morning after the release of a shocking video showing police officer Michael Slager, 33, shooting 50year oldWater Scott in the back as Scott tries to flee.

The cop, a former Coast Guard member who has served five years on the North Charleston police force, was charged with murder at a hearing Tuesday evening.

Scott’s parents are grateful the shooting was caught on camera — otherwise they might never have seen justice for their son, they said.

“They would have swept it under the rug like they did many others,” Scott’s dad, Walter Scott Sr., told NBC’s “Today” show.

“And I thank God that this young man, whoever it was, had the video . . . When I saw it, I just fell off my feet and my heart was broken.”

He believes his son never would have threatened the officer, as Slager claimed through his former attorney.

“I raised my children better than that,” the dad said quietly.

“My son knew better. When I saw that, I said to myself, ‘ No, I know that’s not true because Walter . . . whatever [ the cop] said to do, Walter would’ve done it.’ ”

Scott may have tried to run away because he didn’t want to get locked up for failing to pay child support, his dad said.

The Scott family’s attorney, L. Chris Stewart, said they plan to file a “major civil lawsuit.”
