No lyin’, Tiger and Bear

- By MARK CANNIZZARO

AUGUSTA, Ga. — Tiger Woods and his two kids, son Charlie and daughter Sam, were the stars of the Masters Par- 3 Contest on Wednesday.

But the biggest thrill came from Jack Nicklaus, when the 75- yearold Golden Bear aced the fourth hole.

It was the first time Woods, who hadn’t played the Par- 3 Contest since 2004, has been so public with his children. They were accompanied by Woods’ girlfriend, skiing star Lindsey Vonn.

Woods came within inches of a hole- in- one on No. 8, but he did not come close to winning, which he said Tuesday would be his strategy because no player has ever won the Par- 3 and gone on to win the Masters. When Woods had Sam putt out for him on a hole, it officially disqualified him from being eligible tow in the competition.

“We had an absolutely great time,’’ Woods said. “These were memories for a lifetime.”

Later, Woods tweeted: “I’ll always have memories of my pop at Augusta and now Sam & Charlie. An amazing day.’’

Kevin Streelman and Camilo Villegas, who had a hole- in- one on No. 8, tied for the win, both finishing at 5- under par.

Ben Martin, Cameron Tringale and Ryan Moore shot 4- under.

Matias Dominguez and Trevor Immelman also recorded holes- inone.

Nicklaus, in an ESPN interview on Tuesday, actually predicted a hole- in- one for himself.

“I saw Jack practicing for this day down at The Bear’s Club a few weeks ago, so he was taking this pretty seriously,’’ Rory McIlroy said. “He didn’t want to let anyone down.’’

The retro Woods line of the week came when he was asked what his “greatest motivation’’ is.

“My greatest motivation? Winning,’’ Woods said. “I like it.’’

Six of the last 12 Masters have been won by left- handed players, including Phil Mickelson, who’s won three times. Mickelson
