Sicko sunk by glasses

Perv: Specs ID’d me

The serial rapist accused of attacking a helpless bar patron in a basement bathroom in the Flatiron District last week blames his darkrimmed glasses for leading cops to finger him in the attack.

Police say Rodney Stover was caught on video just after the attack leaving the bar in the glasses.

“They aren’t even black glasses,’’ Stover complained to The Post in a weekend jailhouse interview, wearing the specs. “Do these look like black glasses to you?”

Stover said cops had all the suspects wear similar glasses in a lineup, and the victim pointed him out.

Stover was jailed for 20 years for raping a Long Island woman in the early ’ 90s, although he claimed to The Post that “she was enjoying it” before she suddenly said no.

He had actually stalked the 42yearold mother, following her home to her house in Southampton, slicing open a window screen to crawl inside. He then raped her and sodomized her with a broom handle.

The Long Island woman stabbed him at one point during the horrific attack— but he was saved by the wetsuit he’d been wearing at the time, according to a source.

“He didn’t bleed to death, because he had [ put] on a tight wetsuit,” according to Stover’s disgusted former sisterinlaw, Shawn Stover Johnson, 47. “He had no clue as to the level of harm he caused her.”

Long before Stover, 48, became a poster boy for New York’s barely monitored homeless sex offenders, he was a wild kid in his early 20s, a harddrinking surfer and mullethaired charmer, said Johnson, who now lives in South Carolina.

“He was in and out of our house,” in Flanders, LI, near Hampton Bays, she said.

Then, in 1990, “We got the call that Rodney had been arrested,” in Pittsburgh, she recalled.

It was Stover’s first rape, a knifepoint attack on a stripper.

“He was waiting for the stripper in her dressing room,” Johnson said. “She walks in, and he forces himself on her.”

Caught by bouncers and quickly arrested, Stover served nearly two years in jail before he was paroled.

He came to live with his brother and Johnson in Flanders and worked hauling brush and cutting down trees for a landscaper.

They kicked him out eight months later after finding him naked and drunk in their bed.
