Callers, beware of ‘Mike da Mush’

-

“LET’S Be Honest” Mike Francesa, highly public representative of CBS Radio/WFAN and Fox TV sports, obviously has lost the capacity to speak, recognize or admit to even the most indisputable truths. If he ever had to ability to be honest, it’s gone.

Monday, a caller reminded him that when the Clippers were up, 32, against the Rockets, he declared the series over, Clippers advance, thus he “did what you always do,” the caller adding “you Mushed the Clippers” (the “Mush” being the jinx in the movie “A Bronx Tale,” although this Mush’s last game bet was on the Royals in the Pine Tar Game).

While answering, Francesa cut the fellow off the air — his standard move to prevent debate or dissent — while dishonestly claiming to have said no such thing, adding that the perception that he’s in the “habit” of getting such things wrong is false, too.

Well, Dave, a New Englander found on Twitter via @RNs_Funhouse, has long hoisted Francesa with his own audio/video petard. Monday, after hearing Francesa’s latest uncontested lie, he pieced together a brilliantly edited video tracking a few of Francesa’s more recent knowitall touts.

It’s hilarious. On Google or YouTube, it’s “Best of Tank Mush.” And as Dave notes, funny isn’t normally connected with a guy “completely incapable of laughing at himself, unable to say, ‘ Wow, what a terrible prediction that was!’ ” True, but only for the last 25 years.

A friend in the sports news business and his 8yearold, Katie, were watching FS1’s threeinthebooth coverage of a U.S. women’s soccer match when Katie said, “Do they talk the whole time?” “Yes,” her dad answered. “Well,” said Katie, “it’s really annoying.”
