GOLF: Wind means wild 3rd round at St. Jude

Englishman Greg Owen and Fabian Gomez of Argentina each shot a 3under 67 Saturday to share a onestroke lead after 54 holes at the St. Jude Classic in Memphis, Tenn.

As many as six players had a piece of the lead at some point during the windy third round. Owen, looking for his first PGA Tour title in his 214th event, had four birdies and one bogey. Gomez opened with the first of his three bogeys and finished with six birdies.

Brooks Koepka had at least a piece of the lead through the first two rounds and got to 10 under. He finished with a 71 and is tied with Scott Brown ( 68) for second at 202.

In Belmont, Mass., Bernhard Langer shot a 4under 67 in the third round of the Senior Players Championsh­ip to open an eightstrok­e lead heading into the final day. Langer is the defending champion, having won last year at Fox Chapel in Pittsburgh. He is trying to become the first golfer to defend his title in the Senior Players Championsh­ip since Arnold Palmer in 198485.

In Atzenbrugg, Austria, Gregory Bourdy of France carded a 69 to maintain his lead at the Lyoness Open, two strokes clear of Spain’s Rafa CabreraBel­lo.

ETC.: Charges dismissed on Glory Johnson

Glory Johnson’s attorney said a judge in Maricopa County, Ariz., has granted a motion to dismiss charges against his client for her role in a fight with fellow WNBA AllStar and thenfiancé­e Brittney Griner. Johnson and Griner, who were subsequent­ly married and filed for annulment, were arrested on April 22 at their home in Goodyear, Ariz., a suburb of Phoenix, on misdemeano­r charges of assault and disorderly conduct. Johnson said recently she is pregnant.

The Faeroe Islands proved the first time wasn’t a fluke when it beat Greece again 21 in European Championsh­ip qualifying on Saturday. Poland and Germany had big wins to move closer to clinching spots in next year’s tournament in France. Cristiano Ronaldo also had a hat trick as 10man Portugal rallied for a 32 win in Armenia.

Topseeded Rafael Nadal will play Viktor Troicki of Serbia in the final of the grasscourt Mercedes Cup in Stuttgart, Germany. Nadal defeated Gael Monfils of France 63, 64 Saturday before Troicki overcame the secondseed­ed Marin Cilic of Croatia 63, 67 (1), 76.
