MTA worker’s third- rail zap
An MTA track worker was burned and temporarily blinded by a third rail while working in The Bronx Monday, union officials said.
Joe Williams, 62, was installing wire track baskets at the St. Lawrence Avenue station on the 6 line when a basket, used to catch loose bolts, made contact with the third rail at about noon.
Williams was taken to Jacobi Hospital with thirddegree burns, but is expected to be released Tuesday.
