‘ ISIS terror’ bust on SI
A man who took part in plotting ISIS sanctioned acts of terrorism in New York tried to stab federal agents as they arrested him at his Staten Island home Wednesday morning, authorities said.
Agents swarmed Fareed Mumuni’s home and told him to sit on a couch, papers state. “Mumuni ignored the officers’ commands and instead suddenly lunged at the officers with a large kitchen knife,” the papers say.
One agent suffered minor injuries, court papers state.
Mumuni ( inset) is the second local suspect to be arrested on charges of planning violent jihad in the name of the Islamic State.
As first reported by The Post, Queens college student Munther Omar Saleh — a pal of Mumuni — was busted Saturday after charging at FBI agents who were tailing him and an unnamed coconspirator, the feds said.
After his arrest, Saleh told agents that he was plotting violence with Mumuni. “The investigation has revealed that Mumuni has assisted Saleh in his efforts to carry out a terrorist attack on behalf of [ ISIS],” court papers state.
