‘ Jail- slay’ guard is all alone

-

The ex-Rikers Island guard arrested last week in the kicking death of an inmate has been in solitary confinement ever since because no one will cosign a bond to free him, prosecutors said Wednesday.

And some relatives of Brian Coll, including his wife and father, have restraining orders against him.

“The defendant talks about ties to the community, but ties to the community are individuals to whom he had orders of protection against, which I guess don’t really count as a tie,” noted Manhattan federal Judge Gabriel Gorenstein, who lowered Coll’s bail from $ 500,000 to $ 200,000.

Coll, 45, and current guard Byron Taylor were charged with six counts, including conspiracy and lying to a grand jury, in the 2012 death of restrained prisoner Ronald Spear, 52. Antonio Antenucci and Josh Saul
