A Brooklyn man was killed in a hail of 44 bullets early Saturday, one of eight people across the borough shot in a sixhour span.

Donnell Smith, 24, was struck as the bullets flew outside the Glenwood Houses in Canarsie at around 1:40 a.m. Saturday. He had dashed to the building entrance.

“He started running over to the elevator, and they were still shooting at him,” said witness Cynthia Glover, 55.

Smith was pronounced dead at Brookdale Hospital. His mother vowed revenge. “I’m gonna get the person that did it to my son,” said the woman, who declined to give her name. Glover called Smith “so sweet.” “It took so long for the ambulance,” she said. “He died in the hallway because they couldn’t find the building.”

The FDNY did not respond to questions about response time.

“I heard gunshots, a lot of them,” recalled Glenwood tenant Ronald Gressom, 72. “It’s crazy to live here like this, shooting all night.”

The night of mayhem began at 7:45 Friday, when bullets grazed two women, 23 and 53, near Paerdegat Park in East Flatbush, cops said. The 23yearold was hit on the arm and the 53yearold in the leg.

Later, a 29yearold man was shot in the face on East 38th Street near Avenue I in Flatlands, cops said.

He was in stable condition at Kings County Hospital, but would not talk to police, sources said.

Three more people were wounded as shots rang out on Parkside Court near Parkside Ave nue in Prospect Lefferts Gardens at around 2 a.m. Saturday, cops said.

Medics brought two men, 34 and 47, to Kings County Hospital, with the younger man shot in the leg and the elder man in the foot. Soon after, an 18yearold woman walked in with a wounded thigh.

Finally, at 3 a.m., a 36yearold man was shot in the hand while fighting off three thugs who demanded his valuables near West 23rd Street and Neptune Avenue in Coney Island, police said.

The man was in stable condition at Lutheran Medical Center.
