revis iffy to fly against Birds

Jets star cornerback Darrelle Revis said he is unsure if he will play Sunday against the Eagles after suffering a groin strain.

Revis said the injury occurred during Monday night’s win over the Colts, a game in which he intercepted a pass and recovered a pair of fumbles. He practiced on a limited basis on Thursday after not practicing Wednesday.

“We’ll see,” Revis said about Sunday. “I’m day-to-day. I’m taking it one day at a time and we’ll go from there.”

Jets coach Todd Bowles said he is hopeful Revis will play Sunday. Bowles said Revis did not undergo an MRI exam and he does not believe the injury is serious.

If Revis can’t go, the Jets would have to turn to Buster Skrine or Marcus Williams or some combination of both to face Chip Kelly and Philadelphia.

“He’s a playmaker and he’s a heck of a player,” Bowles said of Revis. “Anytime you lose a heck of a player you’re not going to be the same.”

Neither WR Eric Decker (knee) nor RB Chris Ivory (quad) practiced Thursday. Both players said they are unsure if they will be able to play Sunday.

Decker said his knee feels better than it did Monday when he injured it, but he is not going to risk playing if he does not feel ready. Last year, he pushed through a hamstring injury, which he made worse.

“If I’m not feeling I’m going to go out there and be productive or play 60-plus snaps, I don’t want to take someone’s spot who can be productive on the gameday roster,” Decker said. “I want to be smart because it’s a long season.”

Ivory had been dealing with a groin injury last week, but now it’s a quad injury in the same leg. Bowles said they may not know until just before kickoff if Ivory can go.
