Banged-up Brees is a bummer
As WE already have been reminded frequently t hi s s eason, any player can get injured at any time.
The lost services of Dallas’ two premier stars, Tony Romo and
Dez Bryant, has been a top storyline this year. The Romo injury caused many fantasy owners to scramble for free-agent replacements like Tyrod
Taylor or Marcus Mariota. That leaves the the pickings slim for owners of Drew Brees, who will miss the saints’ matchup with carolina because of a shoulder problem. if you are in the Brees dilemma, there is a good chance you may able to pickup Nick Foles or Blake Bortles. Brees was able to practice on a limited basis, so you should focus on a fill-in for this week with the hopes of his absence being short-term.
saints WR Brandin Cooks (ankle) is expected to play, but lower expectations for him with Luke McCown at QB. The Panthers D/ST obviously is now an excellent start in daily formats.
Eddie Lacy (ankle) was able to get in some practice, and there is hope he may be able to play Monday night against the chiefs. continue to monitor his progress, but consider a healthier alternative who plays on sunday.
De Marco Murray (hamstring) is questionable and he could have his workload scaled back. it’s a tough matchup vs. the Jets, and Murray has disappointed so far. use a healthy alternative if you can. Ryan Mathews may not offer much even if he gets increased reps.
Chris Ivor y (quad, groin) is expected to be a game-time decision. keep Bilal Powell ready if you can — he should provide adequate production if ivory can’t go. ivory has been injured often in the past, so keeping Powell rostered past this week is a good idea.
Jon at ha n Stewa r t (knee) is questionable, but should be able to play vs. the saints. stewart is another RB with a noted injury past, so don’t forget about Cameron Artis-Payne.
The usually durable Marshawn Lynch has a calf injury that now puts him as questionable. if he cannot play, veteran Fred Jack son and rookie Thomas Rawls will share carries against the Bears.
