Suspect shot self in groin

- Aaron Feis

A Brooklyn man cops suspected of public urination turned out to be no whiz.

The 26yearold shot himself in the groin as he tried to hide his gun from officers who thought he was relieving himself in East Flatbush early Saturday, police said.

Officers patrolling in an unmarked van around 1:15 a.m. spotted Javier Thomas with his back to them and his hands near his crotch on the corner of East 93rd Street and Clarkson Avenue, authorities said.

Believing Thomas was relieving himself in the street, the uniformed cops hopped out and approached.

Thomas was actually repositioning the loaded Glock 19 he was carrying in his waistband, sources said.

When he saw the cops, Thomas tried to yank the 9mm handgun out of his pants, said the sources.

But in his haste, he pulled the trigger and blasted himself in the crotch.

The maimed man limped away and tossed the gun under a parked minivan.

But he didn’t get far. Cops nabbed him on East 94th Street, a block away, authorities said.

Cops also recovered the Glock, which was loaded, police said.

First responders brought Thomas to Kings County Hospital, where he was in stable condition.

He was charged with reckless endangerment and criminal possession of a weapon.
